Frequently Asked
Questions
FAQs
Are reservations required?
We are transitioning to our new “Market” concept, and are no longer taking reservations for Dine In. Our High Tea Services ARE NOT affected, they will continue as usual throughout the transition as a ticketed purchase. To purchase tickets use the “Tickets to Tea” button at the top of the website.
Walk-ins will be welcomed until August 11th, after which we will no longer offer walk-in service for the Market Menu. For walk-in guests until August 11th, ordering will be done through a QR code for a self-order, self-pay experience with limited service, not designed as a “Special Occasion” service. Walk-ins are accepted for groups of 6 or fewer only.
Does Tea Service include food?
Yes! Our Tea Services all include food and tea. Our Queen of Hearts Tea Service includes scones, savories, desserts and unlimited tea. You may also add an optional soup course to either Tea Service.
Many people ask if our Queen of Hearts Tea Service is enough food for a “meal”; yes! Many guests bring their desserts home with them because the food is plentiful. However, if you would like to add something more to your tea service, you are welcome to order additional items from our Market menu.
Are children welcome at The Mad Hatter?
Yes, we welcome guests of all ages! To view our Children’s Tea Service, please click here.
We ask that all guests remain respectful of The Mad Hatter property and other guests around them (children and adults alike!). Keep in mind that dining with us takes an average of 90 minutes; please use your personal judgment to determine whether this would be comfortable for your child. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
What is the difference between ‘Tea Service’ and ‘Dine In’?
Tea Service is a preset menu at a fixed price. To learn more about our Tea Services, please click here.
Our Dine In Market Menu is an “a la carte” menu (not a buffet) with a combination of shareables, lunch options, and scrumptious desserts. To view the current Market Menu, please click here.
Is The Mad Hatter handicap accessible?
Yes, we are a handicap accessible facility. There are two handicap spaces near the top of the circle driveway in front of the garage doors, as well as a drop–off point with a sidewalk leading to the main entrance for those who cannot use the stairs. Please note that the drop–off area is a temporary parking space and is not suitable for long-term parking.
What is The Mad Hatter’s policy regarding professional photography?
We are so flattered by the number of photographers bringing clients to The Mad Hatter property for photo sessions! If you would like to shoot on The Mad Hatter’s property, please give us a call at 763.422.4160 to let us know when you would like to be here (we sometimes host private events at which time we cannot accommodate private photography sessions). If the time & date does work, fees are as follows: $25 for single/portrait shoots, $45 for family shoots, $75 for wedding related shoots. If your shoot is during open business hours, please bring a check with you (drop off payment & check in at the Host desk inside the front door). If your shoot is taking place when we are closed, please mail your check at least 1 week in advance. We strive to keep our grounds and building looking beautiful which is a big investment and ongoing project, so we truly appreciate your help and understanding. Please note that The Mad Hatter is not liable for any injuries, lost/damaged/stolen property or other calamities during your photography session.
Does The Mad Hatter accommodate dietary restrictions?
If you are joining us for Tea Service: We are able to accommodate gluten-free, vegetarian and nut-free diets. We are unable to accommodate dairy-free or vegan diets. Please be sure to notify us of any dietary restrictions at the time of reservation.
If you are joining us for Dine In Service: Our menu items contain descriptions with most ingredients listed. In most cases, items can be modified to suit your dietary needs. Your server can communicate with our kitchen staff to help you make modifications to menu items if possible. Click here to view the current Market Menu.
Please note that we do not have separate facilities for the preparation of these items; although we keep all surfaces and utensils clean, cross-contamination is always possible. Please consider the severity of your sensitivity to determine whether this is suitable for you.
Does The Mad Hatter have a dress code?
It does! We ask guests joining us for High Tea Services in the Tea Parlour be tasteful attired and it is unquestionably preferable to err on the side of being overdressed rather than underdressed.
Fancy Duds Please! The Dress Code will be enforced!
